Do you think you are too busy to stay in the present moment?
Sometimes at home, when not working or in vacations, it seems easier to stay in the present moment and appreciate it.
Back at work, it seems to be another story, when rushing is mandatory, or the ticking clock is your enemy.
There are still ways to be and stay in the present moment.
Staying in the present moment means reading every word of an email you have received to fully understand its message, what the sender is saying to you and not what you want to read.
Staying in the present moment means making sure you take the few extra seconds it might need to also reply properly.
There are so many reasons to rush when working, there are the same amount of reasons to take the few extra seconds to stay in the moment and show respect.
Staying in the present moment means looking into someone’s eyes when you are having a conversation.
Staying in the present moment means listening to the others without thinking of your next reply or your next vacations.
Staying in the present moment means stopping multitasking when talking with someone over the phone. Maybe what needs to be typed to the computer is client-related, but when it is not and you use that time to do another totally different task while talking to a client, you are not in the present moment of any of the tasks you are doing… and you are not showing respect to the client on the phone who can often hear you type.
Staying in the present moment is a form of respect. Respecting the others and respecting yourself.
Respecting your own truth, your own integrity, your own authenticity, your own time and your own energy.
Have you ever wondered how people could lack of respect towards you when you were being nice and kind to everybody, not understanding the dynamic of what was happening?
Well… maybe you do respect others, but do you show the same respect to yourself?
I invite you to take a moment to think how often you do not respect yourself. Take the time to do a little introspection on that subject. Catch yourself today and during the coming days when you do not show yourself the same respect you would for a perfect stranger.
Try to see when you are not in the present moment while working. It may take a little longer to master being in the present moment at work than at home.
Doing any task and enjoying doing every second of it is being fully in the present moment, so is enjoying a conversation, and yes, so is not enjoying a conversation. That same conversation that will move the energy to move forward, the energy that will bring you inspired actions to move forward and that energy that will bring you thoughts and feelings to learn from.
Staying in the present moment creates the future.
